To send money
  1. Open the Kem App
  2. Enter the amount
  3. Tap Send
  4. Enter the phone number, or @kemtag of the user (you can sync all your contacts, by pressing sync contacts), money can be sent to people without them having the app. They will receive an SMS notifying them their money is waiting for them.
  5. (Optional) add a note “Thanks for coffee☕️”
  6. Pay through desired method
To request money
  1. Open the Kem App
  2. Switch to Request: by either swiping, or tap on request icon up top
  3. Enter the amount
  4. Tap Request
  5. Enter the phone number, or @username of the user (you can sync all your contacts, by pressing sync contacts), money can be requested of people without them having the app. They will receive an SMS notifying them to pay you through the app.
  6. (Optional) add a note “For dinner 🍝”
  7. Slide to request
Are there any fees for using the app?

There are typically no fees for sending or receiving money using our app. However, for withdrawals to be processed instantly with select banks we offer a 1% fee + 100 fils.

Can I use the app to pay for goods and services?

Yes, merchants, vendors and freelancers using the Kem app can accept payments from Kem users. You can also use the app to pay bills and other expenses.

Can I send money outside of Kuwait?

Kem will provide this service soon, in the main time it’s not possible to send money outside of Kuwait.

Can I use a non-Kuwaiti card?

You can use your non-Kuwaiti card to send money, but it’s not possible to withdraw with it.

Payment cancelled

Kem monitors your account for anything that looks out of the ordinary. If a potentially fraudulent payment occurs, we cancel it to prevent you from being charged.

When this happens, your funds will be returned to your Kem balance

To reduce the risk of payment beings canceled:

  • Only link debit or credit cards that are in your name
  • Only send payments to or receive payments from people you know or reputable businesses
  • Confirm the recipient’s phone number or username before sending a payment
  • Frequently use your Kem app to build up a healthy transaction history
  • Only link bank accounts with your name as written on your Civil ID
Payment not going through

Kem monitors your account for anything that looks out of the ordinary. If a potentially fraudulent payment occurs, we cancel it to prevent you from being charged.

When this happens, your funds will instantly be returned to your Kem balance or linked bank account. If not, they should be available within 1–3 business days, depending on your bank.

To reduce the risk of payment beings canceled:

  • Only link debit or credit cards that are in your name
  • Only send payments to or receive payments from people you know or reputable businesses
  • Confirm the recipient’s phone number or Username before sending a payment
  • Frequently use your Kem app to build up a healthy transaction history
